This blog is where I will record data from my 20-Time experiment about how green tea affects humans.

Final Green Tea Post
This project (original project details here) has been successful, I learned a lot about the effects of green tea through my experiments and my research. I spent a large portion of my time researching about green tea. This took a large portion of time because there are a lot of "facts" about green tea that haven't been proven by scientists. It took time to find reliable sources with evidence to back up their claims. Once I finished my research, I conducted an experiment to find out if green tea is actually as healthy as it claims to be. I posted my results every time something significant happened. I had to remind my two test subjects every morning to drink green tea, weigh themselves, and describe their skin quality for 4 weeks. When one of my test subjects forgot to drink green tea one morning, ultimately compromising the experiment, I was devastated. But I picked myself back up and restarted the experiment again to make sure I would have accurate results. Here are the results from my experiments: first week results second week results Results pt. 3 Results pt.4 My final product is my blog with the results I concluded with from my experiments. My goal was to spread awareness about the realities of green tea and I would say I have succeeded. I have told all of my friends and classmates about my results and hope to spread the word even more about my results. I would give myself an A because I spent a LOT of time researching and conducting this experiment just so I could post accurate results. This project was difficult because there were no set instructions, causing me to feel lost at times. But I was able to figure everything out and successfully finish my experiment. I want the world to know about the effects of green tea and how it can better a person's life. I am going to continue spreading awareness for this healthy tea and I plan to post recipes of healthy drinks that incorporate green tea.

Update!
After experimenting with the effects of green tea, I learned that it positively affects the lives of those who drink it. In both cases, the tea cleared skin, helped weight loss, and even put the consumer in a state of relaxation. One setback I had was I had to re-do my experiment since one of my test subjects forgot to drink tea one day, ruining the quality and accuracy of the results. My next steps are to continue spreading awareness about the positive effects of green tea through this blog. I can apply what I've learned to our community and even our school. Green tea could improve students' lives.

Green Tea Progress pt. 3
In the past month of this experiment, test subject 1 has lost 4 pounds, gained clearer skin, but has worsened her test scores. Test subject 2 has lost 2 pounds, skin has stayed fairly the same, and has improved test scores. These results make it difficult to see if green tea really does affect people in positive ways, so I will be extending this experiment and conducting another month of it. I discovered that the test subjects claim green tea makes them feel calmer and in a more relaxed state of mind, helping them concentrate on homework and studying. One setback was one test subject forgot to drink tea one day of the month, which could have affected the results. When my experiment has concluded, instead of proposing to have green tea by the hot-water in the cafeteria, I plan to create an Instagram account creating awareness for green tea and the positive affects it has on people. When I conduct my next month long experiment, I plan to have my test subjects try drinking matcha-powder green tea, which is green tea leaves ground up into a fine powder, instead of using tea bags. In my next post I will compare the affects of matcha green tea with regular tea bag enclosed green tea. I can apply what I have learned so far to my own life and tell others around me about how green tea is good for them.

Story of Stuff
- We take natural resources but we are going to run out one day.
- Human breast milk has high amounts of chemicals.
- Factories in third-world countries=tons of smog and pollution.
- Factory workers inhale chemicals just because they need money
- Only 1% of stuff bought in America is kept past 6 months. 99% of stuff purchased gets thrown out.
- stuff is purposely designed to be thrown away so you'll buy a new one.
- perceived obsolescence =throw away stuff that doesn't look good anymore(embarrassment)
- Fashion is a huge part of this
- Advertisements
- More ads seen now than people did 50 years ago in their lifetime.
Green Tea Progress Pt.2
Subjects 1 and 2 have received the same grades as before. Neither subject lost weight since last week. Subject 1's skin is still incredibly clear. Subject 2's skin has noticeably cleared up more than last week. This week no major events happened. I will update this blog next week(:

Green Tea Progress
Subject 1 has lost 2 pounds in the past two weeks. Subject 2 has lost 1 pound. Subject 2's test scores are the same as before the experiment, but subject 1's has improved one of the test scores in her class. Subject 1's skin has become the clearest it has ever been. Subject 2's skin has not endured any bad breakouts. So far the green tea has been benefiting the test subjects. I will update the progress on this experiment weekly. If anything significant happens during the course of the week, I will make a separate blog post about it.

Green tea will change your life
In my biology class, we are creating 20-time projects which are projects that take up 20% of our class time for the rest of the semester. The project has to be related to science, preferably biology. My essential question for this project is "What benefits do green tea have on humans? How many facts are false about the affects of green tea?"
My love of green tea inspired me to do my 20-Time project about it. My project is to have 3 test subjects drink high quality green tea daily for 1 month and see how it affects their lives. Green tea is known to improve brain function, thus, making you smarter as you drink it. It increases dopamine and the production of alpha waves in the brain. This tea also increases fat burning, improves physical performance, clears/ makes skin healthier, and contains antioxidants that may lower your risk of certain types of cancer. On a weekly basis, I will monitor my test subjects and record data about whether or not they have gotten sick, improved their test scores, or felt more awake. I plan to have them write down their weight before the experiment, then again after the month is over to see if they lost any weight, since the tea is supposed to be fat burning. If the experiment goes successfully, I plan to petition the school to supply green tea by the hot water machines at lunch. Or I will fundraise and place green tea bags there myself.

My goals are to explore the benefits of green tea and see if it lives up to its potential for being a healthy alternative to coffee. I also hope to teach students about how green tea benefits humans much more than soda and other beverages. I plan to measure my progress and achievements with this blog. If anything strange or remarkable happens during this project I plan to post about it.
My plan moving forward is to start my experiment and have my test subjects begin drinking green tea, then to record data about any changes they notice in their bodies.
